Day nine almost there.

Today we came to the Wellpinit middle/high school to meet our guides of the uranium mine called midnight mine, also now known as the Don mining corporation. We met an operations manager named Robert Nelson. I learned that the Spokane tribe is known as the Children of the sun and they are also river people.  They received about 60% of its sustenance from what was given by the river. When I was learning about this I was a little bored but fascinated by the history of how their river is the way it is. I was fascinated by the fact that they have at least a pretty good history of their river and how when it was damned up there was a lot of land that was buried about maybe 60-80 feet below the surface of lake Roosevelt. I did some research on lake roosevelt and learned that there was eleven towns that was submerged into the water after the Grand Coulee Dam was built. After we was given a brief history of the river we met some of the students who either come to school or came to school here in Wellpinit we played a game where we had to do a certain pose like teepee sweep or look over your horse, canoeing, smoke signals, and drum circle. After we played those games and met other students we met some experts on the uranium mine. There was some parts of the mine processing the students under 18 didn't to go to some of the facilities like the water treatment facilities. Today was pretty fun even though I was restricted to some parts of the facilities but today was pretty fun.
